Addictive games can include any game that you can't stop playing; that you rush home from work to play; or that you can't get your child to come to dinner as they're busy play that "#$*#" game again.

Are games a waste of time?

The skyrocking amounts of time and money being spent on games these days is alarming to some parents, as well as teachers and politicians (although I don't see why it's any of the government's business).

Others express contempt or dismay at what seems to them a waste of time.

 

What's the point of games?

As people rush to add their value judgments and moral opinions, and commercial gains explode, it appears that they are missing an important point. The fact that people all over the world, of all ages, love to play games tells me that maybe reality isn't enough.

Reality isn't exciting enough - and for some, it's downright boring. What is the percentage of people who love their jobs? I don't have that figure but I'm quite sure is it small compared to those who love to play games.

Who loves to play games more than children?

Childhood IS about playing — playing games. They play pretend games with their friends. They play games at school. The reality is, for children, games provide hours of fun and important learning of life's lessons.

Want the REAL truth?

The real truth is: games give us more than reality possibly can, fulfilling a need in us that reality doesn't. I believe reality could, to a certain extent, but generally for most, it does not. Games provide rewards and learning experiences. They inspire us and engage our creativity like nothing else in the real world. And they can bring us together in community settings as in massive multiplayer games.

So I guess it's true — there are addictive games — in fact, most games can be addictive to one person or another. So, go ahead — create, conquer, enjoy!
